Was out doing some last minute shopping and saw one of Zoom Systems iPod vending machines. Certainly a nice looking machine and the first time I went past it, it had quite the crowd by it. Seemed to be a fair amount of merchandise sold from it, so I guess it's been successful. Click image to enlarge.
I think it's the kind of thing that would work very well for a product like an iPod, where you don't necessarily need a lot of sales help to make a purchase decision. Of course, vending machines are a significant part of the retail landscape in Japan and I would guess they'll continue to grow in popularity here too.
